Translate Pastebin?

I’ve been wondering if anyone would like a translated version of Pastebin? It gets a lot of use from Germany – any German coders want to volunteer some translated text? Happy to do other languages too, add a comment below if this of interest (either as a translator or pastebin user)

(EDIT: I’ve had offers for Albanian, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish,Turkish and Urdu – thanks folks!)

    Im volunteering to translate both php files and help files into Greek language.

    Actually i have already do the php files part all is left are the help files.

    I really liked pastebin project and im gonna raise it to Greek developers by creating a url that will have some great free services.

    That’s great news. If there’s enough interest, I’ll rearrange the code to make translations easier to develop and maintain.

    I won’t use gettext, as not everyone will have that module, so I wouldn’t want to rely on it, but what I’ll most likely do is something that feels like gettext. The layout code will wind up being full of stuff like this

    echo t(“pastebin – collaborative debugging tool”);

    If a translation is available for the selected language, it will use that, falling back to the English default. I could also make the t() function do some extra work in “maintenance mode”, building a list of strings to translate, to aid creating the translation files.

    This is great – French, Italian, German, Dutch and Greek!

    As soon as I’ve built support for integrating translations, I’ll be in touch with you all. I’m planning to make it super easy for anyone who wants to translate to do so!

    Cool, i guess that all traslators can start with the help files before the source of the new pasteibn is released.

    (Or will you change them also ?) 🙂

    I don’t want to waste anyone’s time, so I’d wait until I’ve finished making changes first. I’ve got the beginnings of a tool which just lists all the English language phrases used and prompts you to translate each one 🙂

    I volunteer to translate Pastebin entirely into Dutch.

    Er, just installed a copy of pastebin for personal use, don’t want to abuse your goodwill. As stated above it does not work with Russian enconding, notable cp1251 properly.

    However, I hacked out a dirty fix that allows it to work right now out of the box. Add this to your pastebin class:

    $post[‘codefmt’]=$geshi->parse_code();

    // ZYV multilingual fix
    $post[‘codefmt’] = preg_replace(“/”.preg_quote(“&#”).”([0-9]+);/”, “&#\1;”, $post[‘codefmt’]);

    and also replace all the htmlentities(…) entries with either htmlentities(needle, ENT_COMPAT, “cp1251”) or less restrictive htmlspecialchars (layout and diff class).

    And it will work just fine. Don’t forget to change the encoding in layout though.

    Thanks for the script.
